Regarding Participation in Events and Tournaments

As an opportunity to test the results of daily practice and to engage in international exchange, our association actively encourages participation in tournaments.
There are primarily two types: “tournaments hosted by the International Shōrei-kai” and “tournaments hosted by external organizations.” Many students challenge themselves in these tournaments according to their respective goals.

An annual festival where students from around the world gather

Cross-border technological exchange and friendship

As our largest event, it brings together numerous athletes and instructors not only from within Japan but also from affiliated dojos overseas.
It is not merely a competition to determine winners and losers, but a valuable international goodwill event that transcends language and cultural barriers through the common language of karate, fostering friendships.

By experiencing different cultures and sparring with international competitors, you can broaden your perspective on karate and gain fresh inspiration.

Challenging External Tournaments

To further individual growth, we actively encourage participation in open tournaments hosted by external organizations, based on each dojo's judgment.

Objective assessment of actual ability

By competing against athletes from other schools, you can avoid becoming a frog in a well and objectively gauge how far your skills will take you.

Identifying Challenges and Personal Growth

Regardless of the outcome, the most crucial process for growth is taking the lessons learned from the match back and applying them to daily practice.

Challenge

* Participation in tournaments varies depending on each dojo's policy.
